Turning a broad launch into a clearer event-to-sale path

Professional education · Launch Steve New

A professional training launch where the right audience was already there, but the event, emails and sales page weren't yet working together.

The situation

Relevant coaches were already on the list, but they were mixed into a much broader audience. The event, follow-up emails and sales page were there too, but they weren't lined up around the same buying decision.

The diagnosis

This wasn't mainly a “do more promotion” problem. The coaching and event audiences closest to the offer engaged much more strongly with the sales material than the broad list did.

So the job was fairly specific: identify the right people earlier, then make the move from event to sale feel like the same decision instead of starting again.

What I changed

I changed the sequence, not just one asset:

  • Reframed the event and signup messaging so coaches could tell earlier that it was relevant to them
  • Improved the promotion, reminder and replay emails so interest didn't go cold between the live event and the buying window
  • Strengthened objection handling in the sales emails
  • Aligned the sales page more closely with the event and emails so they all led towards the same decision

By the end, the event, follow-up and sales page were working more like one sequence for a more specific audience.

What happened

The launch generated sales. The coaching and event audiences closest to the offer engaged much more strongly with the sales material than the broad list.

What this shows

  • You can already have the right people on the list and still lose them between stages
  • The event, follow-up emails and sales page need to make sense together
  • More promotion is not always the first thing worth doing
